Monday - The Children - Pressed Down and Shaken Together
While part of our team ventures out to build and deliver food to church members in the surrounding area, a core group remains inside the walls of the City to spend time with the children. Eatable snowmen skewered on a red and white straw, Bible lessons, Musical Chairs of Death, Christmas crafts, puppets -- all of it transported all the way from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, by means of the ingenious NBYG 58-piece-luggage caravan. We even brought a puppet stage and backdrop for the skit by means of Samsonite. But the most important piece to all of this is the people.
In giving us advice about what good teams do well, City of Children intern and former NBYG-er Sawyer Eddy emphasized that good groups take part in the activities with whole-hearted joy and energy and that that enthusiasm is infectious. And so our team came with magic string for smiles and cheers and five-highs and hugs and we were greeted in return with smiling children, laughing and cheering and offering high-fives and hugs.
You get what you give...pressed down, shaken together, running over and poured into your laps.
It is a beautiful gift to see the joy of our Father transcend borders and boundaries and be evident in the faces of the children and youth. Thank-you for sharing these gifts with us. I pray that God's everlasting presence will be upon each of you through any challenges and that your confidence and motivation will come from the guidance of His will. Peace be with you through the remaining days and in your journey home. - Elizabeth Lingle -
